Cheburashka's adventures 1

The trip started in Athens, were Manos, speaker of the NetCom, and his AEGEE-mobile, the official means of transport of the trip, joined us. Fortunately AEGEE-Athina and AEGEE-Peiraias don't need a lot of our support! So, after enjoying the weekly joint social drink of those lovely people we immediately set off our journey northwards.

Manos somehow still does not trust my driving skills, so yesterday's trip was the perfect occasion to comfortably finish a Youth in Action application for February 1st deadline and start learning some Greek, translating a Summer University power point presentation into English. Today I already feel more fluent! Next language to learn is modern Greek.

Thessaloniki is special. Feels like home to me, with the seaside, wind, warm people.
And AEGEE-Thessaloniki is even more! There seemed to be almost no hope until December, when 2 great girls decided to take the lead, supported by a small but nice team. Look at your right and you'll see one of them this week...
We've been discussing about ways to enhance their visibility, how to deal with FR and the financial report (@ all antennae: deadline today!). Tonight a rebetiko experience is waiting for us, can't wait!

Next stops? Tomorrow the change is going to be big... Snowy wheather forecast.

Cheburashka goes to Network trip

After a sleepless night Cheburashka and me are now ready to take our luggage and head south. We are going on a big adventure with old and new friends, towards long forsaken AEGEE locals in Albania and Kosovo. The trip already took quite a different plan than it had at the beginning... nobody knows how it will end. Stay tuned!

Evren and the story of the old pasta

Ivonne found some nice quality pasta in her shelf. It's not hers, definitely not Klifman's so probably Mickey's (May 2006-Nov 2007). It was open already, but according to the package good untill 2010. After trying to convince Tena to use it for a very long time she finally decided to cook it.

Evren doesn't like this idea as "You have bugs in your shelf." Ivonne doesn't have bugs, but Evren is very convinced that the pasta will kill us all.

Evren: There are bugs in your shelf and because it's winter they're dead.

During the meal Evren can't stop talking about the penne rigate that is old, and farfalle is good.

Tena: How can you taste if the pasta is old?
Evren: It's old. I can feel it.
Ivonne: You feel old?

Waiting on the world to change

Besides an office of hard work, the AEGEE head office is also a place for discussion. The BBC world service on the radio updates us every hour on the latest developments in the Gas conflicts, TIME magazine informs us on the economic plans of the new President of the United States and the conflict in Gaza dominates all our news sources.

Does AEGEE have a place in any of these matters? As students of Europe we obviously have opinions. Our lives are affected. Instead of issueing a standard press release where AEGEE once again condemns voilence and calls for dialogue (as everybody else already did), we would like to hear what our network thinks of these matters and up to which level their lives are influenced.

That's why today we'll be calling our members all over Europe and investigate. Are they thinking about the voilence in Gaza? Are they affected by the gas problems? What are their thoughts on the new US president, will he bring any change? Are we feeling secure about the future with the EU protecting us against conflict and economic crisis? And what about those of us outside the EU?

World Bank Essay Competition launched!!!

SuFu meeting in Greece

When the participants arrived to Messolongi, a small but cute town in Greece, they never would have thought this would be so much fun, as it was so much hard work. The meeting started with energizers and getting to know each other games, while Academy speaker Maria Nomikou was there to give the boost to SuFu team for the whole meeting by her energizers and team building activities. After those exercises, the team revised its objectives and aims, making a concrete time plan with responsibles, and put them in charts. They have gone through and developed the PR, HR, FR and Project plans of the team. Creativity was on the top with our great designers, whom have painted the walls with their ideas. With more than 15 team members, the team spent lovely 4 effective days, and the only thing that could slow this team down was the gigantic amount of Greek food we ate, which made everyone gain 3 kilos at least. And one of the milestones of this event was the new mascot of SuFu team, which we will not tell it yet. The only hint we can give is ‘ Everybody loves SuFu Panda ‘ 

In the year 2009 SuFu team is going to go BIG, NEW, GREEN and YOU
